Herpetofauna: One Life's List

Storeria dekayi texana
Texas Brown Snake

Gage Co., Nebraska.
October 17, 2003

This little snake was crossing a road on a warm fall day while we were heading to look for snakes elsewhere.  Interesting, the way the dots along the dorsal stripe stop halfway down the body.  I am told this is fairly typical for texana in southeastern Nebraska.

A great close-out to the 2003 herping season, and another little snake saved off the road!
