These two adjoining towns are 22 miles south and east of Grand Tower, Illinois.  There are a number of restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores along the main route through town (Rt. 146).

Murphysboro - Carbondale:

Murphysboro is 18 miles north and east of Grand Tower, and Carbondale is 8 miles further east.  There are a number of restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores in both towns (Carbondale is home to Southern Illinois University).
