Herpetofauna - One Life's List
Blanchard's Cricket Frog Horn's Grove, St. Louis Co., Missouri.

For many years,
this little frog has been a part of the background during many of my
trips. In the woods or by the water, blanchardi swim into
focus as I am looking for other animals, giving me a moment's pause to
stop and admire these cosmopolitan frogs.
The one pictured here is a rare 'greenie', found floating in a temporary pool in a parking lot in southern Illinois. Floating there with him were strings of eggs from other Cricket Frogs, come and gone already. There's more to me to say about Cricket Frogs in the journal Cricket Frog Variations, found in Notes From The Field. |
