Red Spotted Toad
Bufo punctatus

Val Verde Co., Texas. May 22, 1997.

Flat little toads, the small red spots on their backs glowing like tiny jewels in a flashlight beam.  On a night after an earlier heavy rain, punctatus were out on the roads in numbers, and others called from pools of water along the West Texas roadside.
