Dragoon, Arizona. August 5, 2000.

It was the last herp found on a magical night of road-cruising, and we saw it crawling on the road within the city limits of Dragoon, Arizona, about 0130 in the morning.  While the good citizens of Dragoon are dreaming the night away, all manner of creatures hop and crawl and slither and lope through town.

Pretty like all Sonoran Gophers, it let us pick it up and handle it without offering to bite.  We let it go on the other side of the road, figuring it knew where it was going better than we did.  Snakes are where you find them!
