Phyllomedusa bicolor
Giant Monkey Frog
Depto Loreto, Peru
January 19, 2013
One of the most incredible nights of frogging I've ever
had included a half-dozen of these monsters, perched high in the trees close
to a pond and calling in the ladies with a bass, staccato "BOB!". Of
course, all examples of bicolor found thereafter on the trip were
named Bob. The shot at right was achieved by standing on a large
fallen tree, and extending my camera as high over my head as I could reach.
This particular Bob was perched in the same spot, three nights running.
