Desmognathus carolinensis
Blount Co., Tennessee Another species found when we had just an hour or two to get off the main highway and do a little salamandering on the way home from herping somewhere else. Thankfully, the desmognathids and plethodontids rarely let us down. I was able to find a number of carolinensis when I finally returned to the Smokies in 2006, which is documented in The Great Salamander Swing.
