Herpetofauna: One Life's List

Crotalus lepidus klauberi
Banded Rock Rattlesnake

Cochise Co., Arizona
August 11, 2006

The first one I spotted was on a risky bit of ledge and drew back into a deep crevice as soon as it spotted me. The second was on the move, crawling over a rock pile, and dived under the rocks before we could get hold of it. The third little Rock Rattler was, thankfully, crawling across the trail, and an easy snake to detain and photograph.
