A lunch break during a three day conference - time enough to walk up a hill, to visit a small park, to leave pavement behind and tread a dirt path.  As I walked alongside a dry streambed I had little hope of finding any herps, but when I came on some sawn sections of a tree trunk I gave them a roll anyway.  Much to my surprise I found a half dozen of these Batrachoseps, in the barely moist litter underneath the logs.  You just never know!
