Mexican Spadefoot Toad

We were out in Arizona during the wettest monsoon seasion in eighty years. In many places the roadside ditches were filled with rain water and Couch's Spadefoots, and we saw dozens of these toads out on the roads at night. On one stretch of road we stopped for a different looking amphibian, which turned out to be our one and only Mexican Spadefoot of the trip.
