Herpetofauna: One Life's List

Aspidoscelis sexlineatus sexlineatus
Prairie Racerunner

Eminence, Missouri
Spring 1972

My first Prairie Racerunner was dashing around a sand bank along the Current River.  They're partial to sandy. loose soil, and during daylight hours they patrol their little desert kingdom, looking for bugs to eat.

The featured male viridis at right is from southern Illinois.
