Coluber taeniatus taeniatus
Desert Striped Whipsnake
Mesa Co., Colorado
May 25th, 2011
When we first saw it this snake had a Whiptail in its
mouth, which managed to make an escape when the snake retreated into a brush
pile. The serpent emerged from hiding, sans lizard, and we detained it
for a few photos and then let it get back to business.
