I saw a number of taxispilota on a canoe trip through Okefenokee Swamp, basking in bushes or along logs.  A return trip in 2003 yielded several more.  The one pictured here is from Florida, and the photo is courtesy of Larry Fortna.  This species is found throughout Florida and up the eastern seaboard below the fall line to Virginia.
