Under a small flat rock like a thousand other small flat rocks, my first Banded Gecko was a welcome find.  Other people tell me they are often seen at night crossing roads, but I have yet to see one in that manner; during the day they hide in the shade that canyons and rockpiles can offer.  The gecko pictured was found near Langtry, Texas, under a piece of plywood in the shade of an old mesquite.
