Herpetofauna - One Life's List

Laredo Striped Whiptail
Cnemidophorus laredoensis

Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge, Hidalgo Co., Texas. Feb 24, 1996.

I observed several of these whiptails on the sandy banks high above the Rio Grande, but did not have my camera with me that day.  This species is unique in being unisexual - no males, only females, reproducing parthenogenically.
