Herpetofauna - One Life's List

Great Plains Skink
Eumeces obsoletus

Webaunsee Co., Kansas.  May 17, 2004

This was a lizard I had been wanting to see for a long time.  Great Plains Skinks can get large - a foot in length - robust, and tough as nails.  I call them 'Prairie Tegus'.

During my 2004 trip to Kansas I got to see plenty of these lizards, usually under boards or flat rocks.
