Herpetofauna - One Life's List

Fourlined Skink
Eumeces tetragrammus tetragrammus

Sabal Palm Forest, Cameron Co., Texas. February 21, 2003

I saw three young Four-Lined Skinks in the Palm Forests, and all were crawling in the dried husks at the base of Sabal palms.  They didn't stick around for a picture, and I was a bit distracted anyway, since it was pouring rain.  The juveniles sport a bright blue tail which gradually fades with maturity.

Here's a habitat shot, for want of a lizard picture!
