Herpetofauna - One Life's List

Prairie Racerunner
Cnemidophorus sexlineatus viridis

Current River near Eminence, Missouri. Spring 1972.

My first Prairie Racerunner was dashing around a sand bank along the Current River.  They're partial to sandy. loose soil, and during daylight hours they patrol their little desert kingdom, looking for bugs to eat.

The featured male viridis at left is from southern Illinois.
