Sonoran Gopher Snake
Pituophis catenifer affinis

Dragoon, Arizona.  August 5, 2000.
 
It was the last herp found on a magical night of road-cruising, and we saw it crawling on the road within the city limits of Dragoon, Arizona, about one thirty in the morning.  Pretty like all Sonoran Gophers, without offering to bite.  We let it go on the other side of the road, figuring it knew where it was going better than we did.  Snakes are where you find them!
