No Kansas trip is complete without Ringnecks!

That night folks gathered around a campfire and the usual swapping of stories took place, an essential element of any human quest.  A spatter of rain fell across the area, enough to bring a few Barred Tiger Salamanders (Ambystoma malvortium) out on the roads.  These Tigers were beautiful in comparison to the dull and dark specimens I find back in Illinois.

The next morning was a get-away day for some of us, and of course, we did some herping on the way back east.  A field with rocks and tin yielded a Racer and a handful of Red Milk Snakes.

One more stop was made at a rocky hillside, where we found a pretty Osage Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix phaeogaster) under a flat rock.  And that was a good snake to end another successful Kansas herp trip!
